“Your example, even more than your words, will be an eloquent lesson to the world.”

– SAINT MADELEINE SOPHIE BARAT

Our beloved Sister Kathleen Muirhead rscJ has decided to embark on the next phase of the journey of her life and will move out of College residence in December into an Independent Living Unit in Bardon.

Kath came to Duchesne in 1987 as Vice Principal, a role she filled for nearly 30 years until her retirement in 2015. Keen to keep Kath’s loving presence within our orbit, she was invited to stay on as a resident and to continue her pastoral care role.

In 2017, Kath was awarded the ‘The Acorn’ – a prestigious award for former residents who have achieved outstanding success in their fields and who have made exemplary contributions to their communities. As Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat once said, “Your example, even more than your words, will be an eloquent lesson to the world.” Sister Kath’s most certainly has been.

We are so grateful to Sister Kath for her dedication to the College, the kindness, care and compassion she has shown our girls over so many years, for exemplifying the teachings of Madeleine Sophie so beautifully, and for her wise counsel. Kath’s warm presence will be missed around College on a daily basis, but her impact on our lives will always be felt.
