International students bring so much to our community – different perspectives, experiences and culture, and while our international student population is small, it continues to grow every year.
Duchesne College offers international students a comfortable and safe way to experience university life. You’ll be part of a ‘family’ of friends and staff at Duchesne who’ll look out for you and help you adjust to life in Brisbane and at university.
You’ll have access to all of the services and facilities available to Duchesne residents, but for international students, these supports are particularly helpful when you’re a long way from home.
YOUR DUCHESNE HOME
Our Director of Admissions and Residential Life will ensure you settle into life at College. You’ll be partnered up with a buddy and a Resident Leader who can help you with your questions, have a chat with you or just offer a friendly face around College. And you can always chat to our professional counsellor if you need to talk through any worries or to stay on top of your wellbeing.
Our Director of Academics and Careers will meet with you to ensure you’re coping with your studies in your first term and to provide advice about subject selection. You’ll also be set up with a tutorial group at the College. Plus, you’ll participate in an active program of events, dinners, workshops and more – things that will give you a professional edge – it’s all part of the Duchesne Advantage.
If you love sports, arts and culture, you’ll love being part of the Inter-College Council competition where you’ll be part of Duchesne’s team competing against other residential colleges at UQ. We also have a great program of service activities that tie to our Sacred Heart philosophy – you don’t have to be Catholic to attend Duchesne, but it’s important that you support the values that shape our culture.
With UQ’s Great Court just a five-minute walk away and with easy access to regular buses across the city, your exciting life in Brisbane and at Duchesne College awaits!
